Port Credit Community Information

Situated at the mouth of the Credit River in south central Mississauga, Port Credit is Mississauga's oldest community having served many roles over the years including trading post, fishing port and industrial centre. After the paving of the Lakeshore highway in the early 20th century, Port Credit became attractive to business, and travelers wanting to escape Toronto in the summer months. 1b
 Port Credit remained an independant town until it was amalgamated with the city of Mississauga in 1974. Its claim to fame is the Port Credit harbour at the mouth of the Credit River, that has the largest boating marina in the area. Port Credit Marina 

Living in Port Credit has many advantages, especially if you enjoy community spirit and being outdoors. The Port Credit Yaht Club has been a mainstay of the area since the 1930's. The Port Credit Memorial Arena has served the community for over 50 years and is home to numerous hockey teams and community skating events.

Port Credit Memorial Arena  The Port Credit Memorial Park is a great place to relax and stroll on a nice day, and hosts many community activities including the Mississauga Waterfront Festival and Paint the Town Red (Canada Day Celebrations). This year the park will host the 175th annaversary celebration of Port Credit.

Port Credit Transportation

One of the most desireable features of living in Port Credit is excellent access to highways and other areas of the GTA. The Port Credit Go Train station gives residents easy access to the Downtown Toronto scene. In the time it takes to drink a coffee, you can be at Union Station in Toronto, ready for work or a night on the town.

Easy access to the QEW means that you can drive to Downtown Toronto in under 20 minutes. For people who take transit, The Mississauga Transit provides great links to other areas of Mississauga.   Port Credit is very close to Downtown Toronto by car
